Bluray Laptops
Discussion
I will shortly buy myself a laptop for use outside the home (I will be spending at least one night a week in a hotel)
I notice that for about another £150 you can get a laptop with built in Bluray drive. Given that I was planning to get a Blu Ray player at some point I was considering this. How easy are they to hook up to your TV and what is the quality like in comparison to a stand alone player?

Considering the episode with my first DVD drive that was fitted to a laptop I purchased, my first thought would be ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!Although I suppose if you have a decent flat screen with a DVI input (and associated output for the laptop) it might not be a disaster. Still a pain mind you unless you've got a remote control for your laptop.

Theres a chap thats littered the forums with advice on getting this very thing to work.
For around £150 you can get a standalone bluray player, which would seem to be the best option for your sanity.

But to answer the OP our Dell has a HDMI port, which makes the connection very, quality is pretty good, although you'll spend 17 hours playing with the laptop display settings *and* the TV display settings to get it perfect. Not really worth the effort
