Last month I got a phone bill for £700 pounds as I work overseas a lot so I thought I'd better do something about it.

So installed Skype off the web and brought a USB phone (as I really couldn't see myself holding the laptop to my head in Munich Airport saying "IM ON MY PC").

Anyhow, in Slovakia now, just talked to the wifey wife in the UK for 18 minutes and paid.... 24 pence!!

Brilliant, well chuffed with that.

It is surprisingly clear too. I tried it a couple of years ago and didn't think much of it, but a couple I met in Peru suggested I install it on my laptop. Spoke to my dad back in Blighty and it was excellent.

I'd love to install it, but I think my laptop would go 'bang' frown

My friend uses it to contact her sis in Canada, for much cheapness

I surprised the hell out of some friends in Australia when I phoned them, after years of communicating only by letter, as they're too old to learn how to use computers!

Get her on the home pc and Skype and say goodbye to even 24p. Myself and MsT have used Skype for years. Even have a UK number that I can call if I'm out that forwards to her machine in Florida for another free call.

Get yourself a memory stick with U3 on. Then you can run Skype on any PC with internet access without needing to install.

Skype with video cam works well too, if you want to see each other as well as talk.
