Microsoft Office 2007 - Question

Just got a new work PC and it came with office 2007. Apart from the usual problems getting used to small changes, I'm really struggling with Excel.

In 03 I used to be able to copy a formula using Ctrl C and then paste multiple times using Ctrl V. In 07, once you've used Ctrl V the clipboard is emptied and you need to re-copy the cell.

Can anyone help ?

Just tested it, it doesnt do that here.

The copied from cell has to stay with the flashing border, if its got a flashing border and you cant paste it multiple times it sounds like a problem with the installation.

Yep, same for me. The selection is only cleared if you press Esc.

Yip mine copy's and paste's as normal using ctrl+C then ctrl+V
Mind you ive had this new set up a fair while now and still getting used to it!!

I'm sorry, I really am, but why have you put apostrophes in copies and pastes?

It's a tiny detail yet so important. Your colleagues will think you are a tw@ if you do it in work documents.

Mine works as it should. The 'Fill' command on the RHS of the 'Home' panel might be very useful to you, depending on what you're trying to do.

Very stupid question .. but you are sure you're using Ctrl-C and not Ctrl-X, it's very easy to slip over to the wrong one.

What happens if you use the 'Copy' and 'paste' commands via the menu instead of the keyboard shorts cuts ?

Seriously -have you tried 2007 - if not -suggest you arrange bottom teeth sitting up to top ones ( i.e moth shut ).
Ihave used office 97/2000/2003 and now 2007 , and 2007 is like using an office system in esperanto compared to the others .

Sightly off topic, but is there a way to make word 2007 look like 2003? I cant get used tot he layout of toolbars etc and spend as much time looking for the right button to press as I do typing.

Sorry to resurrect this thread- but have just installed Office 2007 on the OHs machine -

OH hasn't seen the new layout yet- am not sure she will be v impressed...

...am seriously tempted to try and find some office 2003 discs from somewhere and put that back on-

(Have just built OHs machine- originally came with Office 2003 pre-installed and no installation discs... managed to get office 2007 for not v. much courtsey of NHS scheme- however didn't appreciate it looks nothing like 2003 )

Just think of Office 2003 and 2007 as the P&P and the Lounge. The first has changed. The second is the future. Get used to it.

Wishing yourself backwards is just your brain giving you some pain. It doesn't like change. But there are some really good new features and 2007 is worth persisting with.

Just don't save anything as a .docx! ;-)

Office 2007 is a steaming heap of crap.

Nothing is where it should be and 2007 documents have niggly little incompatibilities with 2003 documents - conditional formatting appears to be a big issue with Excel 2007 to 2003 conversions.

To all looking to make Office 2007 look like Office 2003, try this utility:

I've used it for around 6 months as I simply hate the Office 2007 Ribbon - it's fine if the function you want is on it, but if not it takes an age to find.

This utility simply adds an additional menu item to the left of 'Home' titled 'Menus.' If you click this you get the old style Office 2003 presentation. Click the 'Home' option and your back to the Office 2007 presentation.
