Quick internet problem

A friend of mine is on Windows Vista, she can access MSN but not the internet, any ideas?

Is this on a wireless network? Does it happen everywhere, or just one place (at home or wherever?)?

let me guess. Internet Explorer does the "diagnose your connection settings" message.

Has they tried refreshing that page?

Has she done a Windows Update recently?

I did and all sorts of things went wrong, then 2 days later it updated again and it was all fixed...

Same thing happened to mine, I ticked a box in LAN settings somewhere and it worked, but not on hers.

Have tried turning off the firewall etc

Would be grateful for ideas

system restore to before the updates.

Make sure she has "Work Offline" disbaled.

My laptop does it occasionally. Plug a LAN cable in for a few minutes and the problem goes away.

Plug it direct into the router via Ethernet cable and then update again would be my suggestion.
