I'm using a laptop with no Excel but need to sort some data

Anyone know of any simple online spreadsheets -- can't really start downloading though....

Get a gmail account if you haven't already got one and use google docs.

Didn't Google do something like this? Google Documents I think it was. And no, I can't be arsed to google it on your behalf wink

google docs may be good but I have no account with them and don't need any more crap clogging my inbox

Not a problem, it's Google they're pretty good. Just get a gmail account you won't get spammed or anything and the account will just sit there with no activity for ever.

Not so fast fellow. Google is just another corporation that'll sell your granny in order to make a fast buck. G-mail is not a product I would use or send a mail to myself.

Well, there's the rub. As you say, Google aren't a charity - but if you want "free" hosted applications, then they're the obvious choice. If you're that worried about the privacy aspects, only use your gmail account when ordering online the vast quantities of tinfoil you need to keep your head wrapped in.
