I have some .avi files that I would like to watch on my DVD

How do I go about burning them onto a DVD so they will play like a normal DVD in my player?

AFAIK, they'll only play on a domestic DVD player if the player has DivX/XviD compatibility. About 10% do.

Convert x to dvd or Nero will both do the job of turning them into a dvd

IIRc you will need to convert them to a format that is compatible with your DVD. Then you will have to burn them onto your DVD using something like Nero. I had a similar thing recently I wanted to play some AVI's through my PS3 so I converted them to MP4. I can now put them on my memory stick and plug in.

Yep, DVD Flick gets my vote too. Easy to use and produces nice quality DVDs, and its free!

I have found Nero to be quite pants, poor visual quality and problems syncing the sound to the image.

Thanks guys, will give it a go later on - need to log onto my Windows PC first though as no Mac edition that I can see.
