trying to animate a little banner here...
couple of bts of faded text, one picture used and bang, 42kb already which is too big
anyone know how to keep file sizes down ?
If you animate bitmaps inside flash it will store a copy in each animated frame hence bumping the file size massively. Best thing to do is to trace the image (assuming it's relatively simple!) and store it as a vector. Or, and my memory is a little rusty here, I think you can change the JPEG compression settings which will reduce the file size at the expense of quality.couple of bts of faded text, one picture used and bang, 42kb already which is too big

Can i ask why you're wanting the size below 42kb? as that's bloody small as it is..trying to animate a little banner here...

converted to jpegs to 126 colour GIFS before importing into flash
I am now down to 32kb
Pistonheads advertising states banner filesize must be 20-30kb
Would loading images from an alternative host be ok? could do that then have good quality images pulled in.converted to jpegs to 126 colour GIFS before importing into flash
