Memory Sticks.

I have been tasked with buying some 4GB memory sticks for storage of PDFs which will need to be reviewed say every 5 years or so. Having looked on the usual sites this appears to be a not so simple task given the huge range available. Are these things much of a muchness or are some better than others and if so what in what way. Alternatively recommend me a stick for, lets say max£10 -no need for encryption or password secutity. Thanks.

I bought myself an 8gb data stick from Staples a couple of weeks back, made by Kingston.

Not sure how respected the name is in data stick circles, but I wasn't going to complain for £13.

Our office stocks 4GB Kingston too - No problems with them and they seem pretty sturdy.

I'd go for a branded one - Corsair, Sandisk, Kingston.

Yes, flash drive was indeed the word i was looking for.

Once every 5 years? This doesn't sound like the true use of USB flash drives tbh.. But that's not to say
that they can't be used for that of course!

I'd also put them onto corresponding DVDs and file those safely somewhere.. safe/etc... They'd cost pennies
vs. pounds..

Of course it opens up the whole data longevity on USB flash memory vs. DVDs debate..

You could always do both of course, very little price differential.
