I'd appreciate some advise on the above please.
I travel a lot with business and need a phone from which I can send and receive my work emails as well as browse PH and listen to MP3 choons.
I've heard the above two are the muts knackers, but are there any other options I should look into?

Im enjoying the iphone much more than I thought I would. The amount of things it can do is amazing. If it doesnt do something you want then someone has probably written an application for it.
My two concerns were typing on the screen and battery life. I downloaded bitesms that lets you type in portrait and adds some functionality. I make and receive about 40+ calls a day and it lasts about a day and a half. Using it as an ipod seems to murder the battery though.

Yep, I browse the internet for about 2 hours a day (train journey) make and recieve lots of calls play on facebook and send about 20-30 texts and its fine My two concerns were typing on the screen and battery life. battery lasts 2 days for me easy

If you actually call people on an iPhone then the battery life is poor, I charge mine everyday.
I plug mine into a charger/speaker thing in the bedroom every night, whether it needs charging or not. Don't see why recharging a phone while you sleep is an issue, to be honest - where else would it otherwise be?playerone said:

When I first got my i-phone I didn't have any internet connectivity, and thought it was toss. As soon as I worked out how to use it I realised that it is the best piece of technology I own by miles. The amount of stuff you can do with it is amazing! We also use macs for work, so the compatibility is great.
What's the "bitesms" app you mention? I searched the App store but couldn't find it. I've got fat fingers and typing landscape would be much better...

Advice is to get a fixed rate data tariff included as they'll all be dipping in and out for data constantly. O2 do a £7.34 Bolt-On, or Orange do a £5 bundle. They're the only networks for this phone. It is stunning.
They go for around £350-£360 on eBay and can be bought unlocked. Then you can get Simplicity contracts that are cheaper and have the data included.

If you're not bothered about the things it can't do, the iPhone is difficult to beat for web browsing, screen quality, videos, and general OX slickness.
One phone not to buy is the Nokia 5800. I had a prolonged play with one last week, and I'm amazed how atrocious the touch OS is. Makes the current Windows Mobile seem fairly intuitive and slick.

slight hijack - but i'm weighing up the same options:
currently got a n95 from vodafone on a 30-day sim only package £10 for calls and texts and £5 for unlimited internet. I rarely go above the quotas set out.
i fancy an iphone but am nervous about unlocking etc.
do i keep my current contract and buy the phone and get it unlocked (and if so, how much should I budget)?
or do i cancel my contract and take out a new one with o2?
