.avi Film Files
Discussion
DVD is .mpg files authored into a special format. You need an .mpg encoder to convert your .avi files & if you want them to play in your DVD recorder you'll also need DVD authoring software to create the required .VOB files within which the .mpg files sit.
There are loads of different converters & authoring packages out there.

Does anyone know how to convert .avi films into another format that lets you play it on a player/dvd that doesn't have .avi format.
Nero Recode will convert the avi into files for dvd playback on a standard dvd player. You will need to use Nero burning Rom (Video) to burn the files to DVD once converted.Or this http://www.xilisoft.com/avi-to-dvd-converter.html
