Mods, I'd appreciate it if you left this in here rather than moving it to computers.

My OH has just got a new vista laptop and is trying to install iTunes, but when she loads it up this is what happens (see pic below). Could anybody tell me what causes this and tell me how to fix it as I've tried with no luck!

Cheers

Mine did that when it was first indexing the library. Leave it alone for a bit and it'll sort itself out or restart it

Watch out when installing iTunes.

Later versions have a nasty trick. They scan for anything downloaded by software sharing programs and delete it.

You can work around it but you need to research it first.

No need for any PH's to worry about that. as if anyone here would download dodgy software.

Shame on them!

I didn't say it was crap now did I?

If you only want music transfered then the one i linked to is fine, but if you want to manage your music then use itunes.

I only use it for putting music on or taking it off the wifes ipod nothing more.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, it does not do this. What files would/could it delete?

Eh? Its not like this computer section doesn't have a perfectly helpful crowd. Theres more to PistonHeads than the Pie & Drivel.

How would it be legal is more to the point, if you used say torrents to download say linux and itunes deleted it then there would be hell to pay from all sides.

Anyway to the OP if the problem still exists with itunes and there seems to be no resolution at this time then use the program i linked to in order to at least give your wife some tunes to listen to and so that you do not get ear ache.

I do not use vista but i am happy to VPC it for you and install itunes to find a resolution as a few people seem to be having the same issues.

So a reinstall does the same?
What version of vista are you running and the same question to the others having the same problem.

I am quite happy to assist. As it maybe useful in the future.

WTF is it about any iTunes related thread in here that immediately turns to threadcrapping and general st slinging?

Quite what Uncle Fester is talking about, I have no idea (it sounds like utter bks) and Allanv's responses are impressively peculiar. Odd.
