It seems like my gmail has been compromised and sending out spam to anyone I've ever contacted frown

Anyone else having this problem?

I never log in to gmail from anywhere other than my home mac frown

And I'd just like to apologise to every single PHer who might have got one of these damn messages.

What's your password?

Have you definitely never logged on anywhere apart from your mac, ever? And is your mac a laptop?

Err well my password is quite random and not used anywhere else without a combination of other letters and numbers.

I always use my mac and it is a laptop frown

I've now changed every password I have.

LGF,

My Gmail is working fine so, sorry, but I suspect the problem is at your end.

Hope you get it sorted without to much hassle.

There is a nifty little tool on gmail that lets you see what IP has logged in.

Allll my home IP (I assume...they are all the same) bar one that is way different about an hour ago. I wasn't home an hour ago frown

Right at the bottom of your inbox is a little link that says "Last account activity...blah blah hours ago on this computer. Details"

Click on that and it tells you the IP's of where and when you logged on (think it shows about 5 log ons)

NCoT - it appears that someone logged in as me and started spamming people. Including my boss and my bosses boss. Yey. rolleyes

Can you "decode" the IP address to a machine/domain? Not sure how you'd do it but should be able to translate it to "a.b.co.uk" sort of thing...

Have a look at 1Password for OS X by Agile - excellent password manager that allows you to generate much tougher passwords whilst only having to remember one master password.
