There is an option "Show Formulas"

This displays all your cell's with the formulas used (But doesn't show the result)

It's on the formula tab in 2007 but I think it is in Tools Sheet Options in previous.
Downside it applies to whole sheet?

Not sure I really understand.

Do you want to

a) Highlight the cells that are used in a calculation
b) Have a cell showing the formula used in a calculation

Have you tried the "formula auditing" toolbar? There is a "trace precedents" button on there.

I put this into the help search box, I think it might help - "Display the relationships between formulas and cells"

This is the one, draws a line fromt he cell that has the formula in it to the cells used in the formula (assuming they are on the same tab) and puts a round dot by the cells actually used.

If you want to just see the cells being used in a calculation, simply select the cell that has the result, then click in the formula bar and it will highlight the cells colur coded to show them relevant to the calculation.

Press ctrl and the button above the tab (the " ¬ ` ¦ " button) - job done.
