Yes, I spent what seemed like an eternity turning on all the "I want to search everywhere, yes, including system files, yes, I really do mean everyfkingwhere including hidden locations you tt" buttons. Heck I even searched non-indexed locations excuse my temerity.

On my first go I had a window open looking at all my *.xls files and searched that very directory for *.xls and it returned nothing rofl

Do NOT be tempted to defend the new search method, it was designed by a ergo if you like it you are a by association.

We still have backwards compatibility with the x86 platform so why not stick with a search that actually returns results?

What didn't realise older files don't have tags so you can't search for them. I know I have an Excel file with the words November and December in it, just let me search for it.

Why you.... DOS I can still do. But it can't search inside .xls files for text to the best of my knowledge.

It mostly works for me, might seem silly but did you install the search update?
Search V4

and is the file's location in an indexed location? if it's not vista's default is not to search content, you can change this in "folder options" "search" "what to search"...

cd\
dir *november*.xls /s

It's dumbed down to the point of being useless punch

I hope to fk they learn with Windows 7 and give it some functionality back. It's all well and good looking pretty but what's the fking point if you can't actually use it to achieve something that you have been able to do simply for years and years.

Clicking on it (avoiding the dropdown) turns it into the normal address as in previous versions for me. confused

Spotlight is much better. Just like most of OS X compared to Vista.

If they are Excel 2007 files you need to search for *.xlsx files.
