Wi Fi Range extenders
Discussion
I have the standard Sky broadband router and am looking to upgrade my sons Xbox 360 to Live so need an internet connection in his bedroom which is in the loft. As the wireless connection is weak up there I thought of buying a range extender. PC world currently have a Netgear AC750 for £25. Has any one had any experience as to whether these will actually work?
Thanks for your help.

I had this problem and after some research, there are two basic technologies -wifi range extenders and powerline adapters. I bought a powerline set.
The wifi extenders pick up a signal and rebroadcast it. If it is far from the router, the signal it picks up will be slower to start with.
The powerline uses the mains electicity line to connect the adapters. Plug one in near the router (it needs to be connected with an ethernet cable). Then plug the other near your sons x box. You can even plug in an ethernet cable from the adapter to his x-box which will probably be the fastest solution. A starter set is around 50 pounds up and will have a base unit and one adapter. More adapters can be added (up to six I think)
