Can't log onto PH.
Discussion
Just got an email from PDV6, he hasn't been able to log onto PH since the weekend. What is the sites "Ping" address?
He emailed me these instructions but ?I didn't understand them:
Open a DOS box (Start->Run "cmd" on Win2k, Start->Run "command" on Win98)
and at the C:> prompt type
ping pistonheads.com
and then press return
You should see a series of 'ping's (4 in total) stating "Reply fromaddress>".
The IP address is a series of 4 numbers separated by full stops, e.g. the
BBC is 132.185.132.204
Its these IP address that the internet really works on, and the
user-friendly names (e.g. bbc.co.uk) are for us poor humans' benefit and are
translated into real IP addresses by DNS servers on the web.
I'd be interested to see what PH gives for you, in case the DNS server that
I am using is getting it wrong for some reason!
Can anyone help. Either stick the answer on here and I'll email him, or email him via his profile.
cheers
