Yes, that's right an question of Ram.

Having an issue with my installed Ram. I have 4gb installed, checked etc and even my bios and Cpuiz says i have 4 and cpuiz records them as all working correctly but i am only using 2.75gb apparently. This is what shows up in my properties and also in a programme called fresh Ram.

Now, is there any programme that lets you limit or turn on and off the amount of Ram you use as i for the life of me can't figure it out and the old girl is struggling enough without getting memory loss....

Ran the memory checker from microsoft and that reports no errors.

Puzzling.

Windows 32 XP media centre

Wow, no idea XP only recognises 3gb or in my case it states 2.75.

So does that mean it only makes use of 2.75 or only displays?

Getting this from right clicking on my computer.

Well, thank you all very much for your help, it saves me spending ages trying to figure out what is wrong! I suppose having two graphics cards albeit with only 256mb memory just adds to it's confusion.

So, what should i be getting next because the machine i am looking at from Mesh with lots of upgrades has 16gig of Ram and two ATI 2 gig graphics cards and windows 7. Is there any point, will i be able to use it all if needed?

That must be some beastie from Mesh. Just make sure windows 7 is 64 bit. Any software that needs 32 bit will work just fine.
Yes, it's a moddified XGS I7 GTS but you could add another 2 grands worth of optionals on top, upto 24gig of Ram and the beasty Intel® Core™ i7 980X Extreme Edition Processor (3.33GHz,12MB Cache) which i think has 6 cores, and a 256 gig solid state drive.

I am sticking with the I7 960 quadcore.

It is a beast and quite exensive but the one i have now is 8 years old now and suffering
