I’ve heard an argument with the w205 C63 that the non S with a more reliable mechanical diff is preferred for more controlled drifts but in order of desirability I’d go C, S, then std GT. Not sure the std GT has an exhaust button but I might be wrong on that? The S got clever engine mounts too - a lot more tech for not much more money on the used market.
The C is just so right imho. Wide body, road car suspension. The very rare coupe just looks stunning but I’d go soft top.
Engines are identical on C & R but the GT/S run different injectors i believe, maybe some other engine differences.
Stage 1 on the R&C produces 680hp reliable (40k miles across both models for me) easy to go more on engine but toque on gearbox gets dodgy

Those of you running one - what have you done about warranty? Most of the cars I’m looking at (C and R) don’t have any Mercedes extended warranty, to put one on a car where it’s lapsed for a C is around £3k which is pretty eye watering! They seem to be pretty reliable but I can imagine some big bills when things do go wrong
6 years in on mine (gtc), extended after year 3 but was pointless, 45k miles in at 680 hp and numerous track days and nadda, peeling lacquer on front callipers and that’s it, changed gearbox oil at 30k which is the cars weaker point, old oil as clean as a whistle.
I’ve run an s63 cabrio and GTR over the same period since new, again, nothing and not bothered extending, again @ 680 hp but gearbox is a full auto on this.

Thanks for sharing this, they do seem to be pretty bullet proof so it’s tempting to not bother especially given the cost - unless buying from a Mercedes main dealer of course as they include a 2 year AMG warranty.I’ve run an s63 cabrio and GTR over the same period since new, again, nothing and not bothered extending, again @ 680 hp but gearbox is a full auto on this.
I’m erring in the side of a GTC Roadster now, I live the GTR but my fun cars have always been soft tops and I think I’d miss getting the roof down on the 3 days a year it’s not raining.
Just being nosey - who do you use to maintain your AMG cars, I’m very close to a main dealer in Stevenage so I guess I’ll stick to using them as I don’t know if any decent local specialists.

Steer will clear of MB Stevenage. I use Bedford and a number of others I know use bishop's stortford and are happy.

The GTR roadster is sadly outside my budget.Ps - you can get a GTR roadster
Thanks for the heads up re Stevenage. On the sales side of things Stevenage have been very helpful, Bedford much less so .I’m off to look at a GTC roadster at lunchtime

I moved away from the GTR roadster and replaced with the GTC, for me the GTC looks cleaner as rear wing isnt fixed, springs are softer so better for road use and interior is nicer as its not dominated by the bright yellow traction knob, all subjective points of course. Put the cup2s from the gtr on the GTC and map it and its pretty much identical to the gtr in performance (especially with CCB option ticked, which was an option on the gtr to)
Thanks for clarifying your experiences with servicing.
The GTC does seem to be the best overall package for road use. I viewed a red GTC locally today, lovely car but I don’t think the colour would be my preference.
I made some enquiries (and offers) on a few cars prior to Xmas, by chance one of the dealers I spoke to was back in contact with me today accepting an offer I’d made, so watch this space as they say…

I’ll get some up assuming all goes well with collection. I’m off to Mercedes Exeter to collect it Wednesday afternoon.
It’ll be going in for front PPF once I get it back.
thats where i first test drove one and fell in love, when Ben Ford was thereIt’ll be going in for front PPF once I get it back.
Great spec btw, will you venture to the track? dms in sotton is your man for mapping btw (if so desired)

Thanks, it is a nice spec and I absolutely love the colour although slightly apprehensive about how well the paint will wear hence the PPF and it’ll have a ceramic coating applied to the rest of it whilst there.Great spec btw, will you venture to the track? dms in sotton is your man for mapping btw (if so desired)
I might try and get on track later this year, it’ll probably stay standard for the immediate future as it has 2 years AMG warranty with it.
