Another ex TVR owner here .. I have had 400se, 450 SEAC, Griff 500 and T350.
Looking forward to picking up the SLK55.
Probably Wednesday or next Saturday.
I did test drive an Aston Martin vantage too but the clutch was very heavy and it put me off a bit. Still fancy owning one at some point though. Plus the SLK AMG roof comes off.

I see your car collection has grown.
Interesting to hear the comments about the Aston Martin because in my pursuit of a another car I had booked a test drive with HWM Aston Martin to test drive a 2010 Vantage V8S soft top with paddle shifts. The car looked very nice in light metallic green but the paddle shift system was diabolical I tried to like it but in both paddle and auto mode i just couldn't get to like it.
Anyway as is my way of doing things I had also booked a test drive in an SL 63 and an R8 that day. So the SL 63 was first after the Aston about an hour between test drives, the MCT 7 speed box was a revelation after driving the Aston Martin and I said to myself if that Aston Martin had the Merc gearbox I'd have probably bought it. The SL 63 did impress in many more ways than the Aston Martin. Then late afternoon tried the R8 which was nice and a step up in every way from my V8 Esprit but the SL63 with that MCT box, the roof and the sound had me convinced. A month or two later I know I made the right choice and the only thing that will replace it after I get bored (generally a year or two) will be the SLS with gull-wing doors because same engine (bit more tweaked)and gearbox.

I did around a year ago, from 4.5 Cerbera to C32 AMG.
Out of health reasons, auto only now ...but I have to say apart from the steering I have been pleasantly surprised.
I have a remap, smaller pulley on also a Johnson charge pump so far so good, really kicks off mid range now with the upgrades,plus rear tyres last longer Another plus (for me) no irritating twits at the lights trying to chase you etc. I have removed the side Kompressor badges.

I toyed with the Aston world aswell but surprised to hear so many of you considered a V8 Vantage after the TVRs. Did you not find them a little, well...possessing a wrist of sufficient fortitude ? I looked at going V12 with a Vanquish or a real Vantage c. Mid 90s. Of course with my track record of not buying cars at their low values before they start going up - I didn't. I didn't even mind the Vanquish gearbox to be honest.

I recently sold my Tuscan S and my everyday E320 Sport and replaced both with an E63 AMG.
The TVR was being little used in recent years due to the advancing years, track days and the like being a thing of the past.
Being retired now meant that keeping a daily runner and a weekend fun car is not viable and SWMBO shared that assessment.
So both went and SWMBO thought I was being terribly sensible, until she saw what I came home with!
The AMG absolutely blows me away. 570 bhp and so civilised when you want it to be, or not when nobody is looking. And it has a sliding sunroof, just like my old Ford Cortina . Happy days!
While I'm on, I've noticed that there lots of threads on here about the C63 AMG, but nothing about the E63. Is it that there are few E63 owners who are petrol heads or that the C63 attracts a less gentlemanly crowd who like to be seen and heard?

I've owned my E63 for nearly three years and will purchase another in a couple of months. Fantastic cars. I think there are far fewer E than C 63 owners, the E is more refined and perhaps attracts a different kind of driver. However I'm not refined at all really, and when my new tt E63 arrives I'll be getting it tuned easily above 600 bhp. When we were driving home from Devon on the M5 last week my wife was doing her stint behind the wheel while I had my afternoon snooze. I heard that lovely V8 growl rise in tempo and glanced across at the speedo, she was a tad above 120!
Oh dear she said, it's too easy to do that isn't it. Yes said I, and to lose your licence.
And that is in standard tune.
A big bad beautiful monster, that's for sure.
