I wonder if other owners are watching autotrader and other sites to see if the value of our cherished cars will depreciate more? I saw this thread on the slk world forum http://www.slkworld.com/amgs/18819-mercedes-benz-s... My opinion is that the prices have bottomed out and hopefully the car should soon be recognised as a sought after classic. Do we have any other opinions fellow petrolheads?

I have come to the conclusion that they are near to the bottom of the depreciation curve. As far as performance goes you can't get much more for the money.

I keep looking around and still yet may be tempted by an SLK 55 although the cabin seems a bit cheap for a 50k car but I do like the V8- I also feel the R170 is a more cohesive design which probably explains why rather than go for the 55 I just went for the Kleemann supercharger / pulley upgrade ( justifying it as a big saving over the 55)

I still think as an all round package it's hard to beat. i paid £15.5k in April 2008- Its probably work £12k now if I sell it privately so all in all 3.5k depreciation is not bad over 2.5 years although servicing still needs to be factored in
