Advice needed.

A customer of mine requires some work on his Range Rover and has offered a set of Mercedes SL55 AMG alloys as payment off his old car. They are the 20 spoke 18inch ones. but unsure if they are to the value of the work. Especially as I dont have a merc.

Just to add the work is about £800 normally and he think these wheels are worth about a grand.

Will try and get a picture shortly.

Any hints or tips about these wheels are much appriciated. looked on ebay and theres a only two sets on there and well over a grand.

Cheers

Adam

Hi

The 22 spoke would cost £1664 new (more from MB)

Do they come with tyres? Are they in need of a refurb?

So new they would cost twice what the work is valued at but you do have to sell them which may take a while. If I recall rightly some VW and Audi cars take MB alloys as well (of course I may have been imagining this)

I looked into buying a set of secondhand alloys for my SL600 I was offered a set 20 spokers
for £250 but they all needed refurbing.
The various sets of used 18" AMG's were up to £500 but were not selling.
I would be interested if they are perfect and Round!!

Mark.

I've got the 18" AMG Turbines on my car which sound like the wheels you're describing (check the photo of the car in my profile), I bought them from a fellow PH-er for £750 IIRC, with very good Michelin PS2 tyres, they were in pretty good condition but I spent a further £250 on a full refurb so £1000 sounds about right if they have good tyres and are mint.

Guys thank you for your response so far its much appriciated.

yellowbentines - yes they are the wheels they look really really good on your E Class fair play.

I have seen the wheels today they are not in bad condition have one or two marks on two of the wheels and laquer is peeling in places but not much at all. The rear tyres are shot have no tread right accross the tyre the front tyres have around 4-5mm and the are P Zero's.

So will need a small amount of refurb and new rears.

Have done a polished set like this before and laquered them and looked good for my mates M6 these arent as bad as they were.

So is it worth the head ache or just go for cash? Or does anyone else want to make an offer and will pass it on?
