just test drove an E Class Coupe 350 CDi . . .
Discussion
having sold our SL500 6 months ago - we are really missing our Merc so we have decided to look for a new toy!
I know this sounds really left-field but its basically between a Porsche Cayman an M3 and an E Class Coupe 350 CDi.
Basica criteria for a car - 2 seats/3 doors max/fast/luxurious and a little bit of fun.
Have to say that I really enjoyed my M3 test drive last week and today I tried the E Coupe - what a weapon! Fast, sooth, quiet, unfussed and no drama - comfortable - well specced and cool!
Next try-out is the Cayman - in a couple of weeks time - with about £37k to spend its going to be a tricky one.

Interesting observations.
As the proud owner of an E320 sport, having had a basic 911 before that (comparable performance to a Cayman) I cant see the the slightest similarity between the two.
The Porsche is in a class all of its own by every point of comparison available and is a superlative GT/sports car. The E class on the other hand is a very accomplished barge, fast, smooth, and totally boring. It does, after all weigh in at 2 tons with driver, fuel, and the weekly supermarket shop so it handles accordingly.
In a perfect world I'd have both - plus a Tuscan just for real fun.
Dont fart about, treat yourself to the best, a 911.

had a 911 - absolutely hated it and the day after we sold it - it blew up!
We are after a really "nice" car - with a bit of class - our needs are not that focused as to simply "want" a 2 seater etc - we have 3 nice choices.
Just finding it hard to make our minds up.

btw - if it was simply up to me - I would go for a Boxster Spyder!!!!
