I'm taking it out and charging it up, but can anyone tell me if there will be any consequences? Anything that is going to be a problem due to it having been without power for a while. It's a 2007 convertible.

The system may throw up some ABS and traction control (or whatever it's called) errors but they usually go once you take the key out and put it back in again.

If in doubt, post on the Mercedes forums. mbclub.co.uk and forums.mercedesclub.org.uk

You'll need to carry out what Mercedes refer to as "basic programming" that's all. Your ESP warning light will be on the first time you start-up but if you turn the steering wheel from lock to lock a couple of times it will disappear, this just reinitialises the steering angle sensor. You'll need to re-sync the windows too: send them all the way to the bottom using the first stage of the switch, once at the bottom flick it to the second stage and you'll hear a click. Now using the same method send it to the top and you'll hear it click again, it should now work via "one touch" again. Then it's just a case of resetting the clock and any radio stations you had in the memory, pretty straightforward really.

If the battery is shot / needs to be replaced I would recommend Costco for a BOSCH S5.
