Let's see your Alfa Romeos!

There were also a few strange modifications that I found whilst restoring the shell. The rear panel was that of a 1750. It had a crude patch over the cut out for the reversing lamp under the bumper and the area around the light clusters had been roughly cut out to take the later 2000 light units. It now wears series 2 1750 lights which are much prettier. Could it be one of the first 2000's that was delivered with the 1750 rear lights? or did it have a bump at some point an the wrong panel was purchased for repair?

No worse than the 64 GT - hopefully!!
I'm thinking front and rear valances, some TLC to the arches, and usual sills - but I'm hoping they are repairs at either end rather than full replacements. The floors are strong but not pretty - they've been patched in the past.
I just can't get my head round how much to allow. I appreciate you can't give an accurate price, but equally I don't want to commit to something without some idea of what the cost will be...

Sills are the expensive bit. If you see rust its too late. Small bubbles mean new middles and outers in most cases, the inner is much thicker and can be repaired in many cases. front valance usually points towards the anti roll bar mounts and front crosmember needing work. Thankfully the panels and repair sections from Alfaholics are fantastic so once the rot is out its pretty starightforward to get everything back together with very little prep for paint needed. Aye, that's what Mitch said!!I have small bubbles...
The front valance is more cosmetic as it's been biffed at some point. The crossmember/ARB mounts are OK I think. It's running the 29mm bar so I hope so!

Just makes you wonder if Alfa built it as a 1750 then the dealer modified it to be a 2000, hence the delay in registering. Seems an odd thing to do though.Edited by Dr S LB on Wednesday 30th June 13:35
Is the floor area under the rear seat depressed downwards an inch or so?. My 2000 is, but the 1750 is virtualy flat. 1750's have diferent front seat supports too. There quite a few subtle differences between 1750's and 2000's which might hint at which basic shell it has.
Mind you changing a rear panel is no great issue if it had a rear ender and I read somewhere they only made the smaller light version as replacements because it's easier to enlarge a hole than fill part of one in.
Have you been in touch with Stuart at the 105 register?, he'd be interested in such an early one.

You're finally doing it? What will you bring to the PH meets??? I really fancy a GT - Shame I have the Z already!I'm back in the UK next week and I'm going to buy a van of some kind, transfer my plate onto it and then the Alfa will be sold. It's being serviced and MOTd this week.
Hopefully a new PH worthy motor will arrive before the end of the year though!
Hopefully it'll still be seen around, god knows it'll be missed!
