Yes, I would think so. If they have no legs.

I bought a 2001 80k mile 3.0l GTV about 2 months ago. I got it cheap partly because the MOT was about to run out, but all it needed to pass was a new numberplate (the old one was cracked). I have replaced the rear suspension bushes which improved the handling, it is now very good with high levels of grip, particularly on smooth roads but it does bounce about a bit on the bumps so I think it could do with new shocks. I had a problem with the fly by wire throttle but it turned out to be a dodgy connection on the throttle butterfly which I sorted myself. My kids fit in the back no problem but I haven't tried getting an adult in yet. I am happy with the car and would pick out the engine and the interior and exterior design as being my favorite bits.

With me in the driver's seat (6'2" there's no way anyone with legs can sit behind me unless they sprawl across both rear seats.
Saying that, I did once get 2 adults in the back, but they were a couple and didn't mind lying on top of each other!

The to go for if you can find one is a GTV Cup, they were made between 2001Y nad 2002 52 and start at about 9k, they were limited in number I believe less than 200 in the UK so may make a sound investment in the future.

...but bear in mind that the differences are purely cosmetic and all available aftermarket if you want them that badly and can't find a Cup.

The Cup is OK from the side, and the wheels look ace (a strange "satin" finish IIRC), but from the front, they're offensively ugly. There're too many tacked-on scoops, wings and slits, all of which are stacked atop each other and looking like too much of a bodge-job to be comfortable with.

Eh? As an owner of a Cup i have to disagree, the only differnce front on is a small chin spoiler, there are no tons of vents and flaps at all, what nonsense.

Just personal taste, I guess. For me, the combined effect of the front spoiler, the skirts and vents on the side, and the boot spoiler spoil the lines of the car a bit but others love them.

I think they look best without any adornments at all.

if i buy a car with 80,000 miles, are there any huge costs i will have to incur?

not really as long as all the usuals are dealt with, cambelt, bushes etc etc.
the engines are really bombproof, but check for oil leaks around the oil cooler (expensive to fix) and any tappet noises.
mines done 94k and still as tight as ever.
only costed me 2 wishbones and front bushes so far @ £200

Mine's done 175k now. It is still rock solid.

No rear legroom to speak of, as mentioned above. I did get a couple of mates in the back of mine but they complained loudly. And I'm only 5'5 so have the seat forward.

And put aside £500 for a quad exhaust and £500 for Angel Tuning (google them) to do their magic.

My mates car is bl**din awesome now and I want one.

How do you owners find the car being FWD?

Not a problem most of the time but the throttle response is very quick so you have to be careful not to give it too much when doing emergency starts on the wet(more wheel spin = more revs = more power = more wheel spin). In the dry or if you aren't too lead footed in 1st in the wet it is not a problem. Getting on the throttle round a corner in the dry seems to tighten the line rather than make it run wide.

yes The trick rear suspension has passive rear wheel steer, the practical upshot of which is that the harder you turn in, the more help it gives you (up to a point).
