My lid has stuck!
Discussion
Hi Folks;
The Spider roof has stopped working fully....
I'll try the bypass switches later to check that the individual operations are working.
I can hear the motor working fine and the rear roof section flips up but the operation then stops (the roof cover doesn't open and the roof doesn't fold back).
It was all working fine 2 weeks ago but it has occasionally got stuck in the past when parked on a steep hill but then works fine again on level ground.
At a guess I'd say it is a microswitch playing up; anyone had this trouble and know where they are all located and which one does what function?
Thanks,
K

Thanks Alex, I didn't notice the roof LED - I'll have a look later.
I did pop out and had a play just now and the override switches didn't make any difference - the hard roof cover remained locked down in position.
I didn't realise there is hydraulic fluid to top up, I'll check that too.
I assume the reservoir is under the bonnet?
Cheers,
K

No worries K - topping up the hydro fluid is an easy and cheap first fix (but the fluid can be hard to come by apparently). If the rear cover isnt popping up it could be a problem with the solenoids - maybe check all the fuses?
In any case I would have thought the roof LED should be flashing out a code.
ETA: No, I think the fluid reservoir is somewhere near the roof itself (only guessing as I have a manual roof).

Thanks Alex, I noticed a similar post in the AO tech section - I'm not alone!
I'll take a look through the manual tonight for the fluid spec and reservoir location. I think a manual roof is better really.........
Hi Kentish, I am having exactly the same problem as you. The rear part of the roof is folding up but the roof cover is not opening! There are no warning lights lit up and I can hear the motor working. It was all working fine and then suddenly stopped last week. I have had a look in the section where the battery is and can't see anything jamming etc. However I have only had the car just over a month and am not familiar with it! Can you tell me exactly what you did to rectify the problem so I can try and solve mine. Where is the pivot lever you mentioned?
Cheers,
Rhod
