Hi matey, I went from a 3GS to a HTC HD7. I started to get a bit fed up with the iPhone to be fair, thought the HTC would make a bit of a change. It's a good bit of kit, perhaps not as strong on the music front as the iPod is. Applications wise, I haven't really felt like I'm missing much although the marketplace (Windows' version of the app store) is far from empty.

The screen is nice and clear and the camera is pretty good. The layout of the phone is intuitive although if I nitpick the touch buttons at the bottom of the phone (back, menu, search) are too sensitive, and I occasionally press them inadvertantly.

A nice little touch is the way the HD7 puts your next calendar appointment at the bottom of the lock screen. Very handy as I synchronise my phone with my office diary and it's nice to just peek at it to see what I've got on next rather than unlocking it and going into the calendar.

If you use your phone as more of a planner and less of a music-playing device then I'd recommend the HTC. If you like your iTunes then I'd stick with the iPhone. The HD7 has an annoying feature where if you've got headphones in and you pick up a call (taking the phones out), any music you may have playing will immediately resume through the phone speakers after your call.

If you want any more information then give me a shout - I'm in work at the mo but I'll pick up when I leave the office.

(edited for spilling)

thats very helpful - thanks.

I'm getting sick of the whole Apple thing now and basically I don't want to give them any more of my money.

If the Win 7 phones do at least 90% of the iPhone (which it sounds like they do) then I'll get one.
