Time to shell out again. I have always used Hill House Hammond but now they are part of NU, or whatever it was that happened, I expect a hike. Any recommendations from anyone?
Interestingly I have alway found HHH easy to deal with. Last month I got a letter from them, as part of NU, saying 3 weeks before renewal I would get a renewal pack etc. With 2 weeks to go nothing has shown. Does not bode well.

In fairness to HHH, I used to be with them and then they sent me a mildly inflated premium which Adrian Flux not only beat but still beat even when I declared all my mods.

However, when looking to insure my imported Z06, they quoted me the lowest premium (£434) for 4000 miles a year and without a single mod to the stock alarm system. They also counted my NCB being used with Flux. Flux wanted well over £500 for 3000 miles.

So fair play, I went with HHH. You could also try MCE.

Pete, there is a thread on CCCUK about insurance including my comments on MCE - beware.

HHH were the cheapest for me by exactly £1 from Adrian Flux. Trouble is I spent more than £1 on the phone to Flux waiting for them to give me a quote so I wasn't impressed by them...

I got a renewal quote from HHH this year which increased my payment by about £50. I then called around a few other insurers and got a quote for about the same as last years quote wiith HHH. A return call to HHH somehow enabled them to knock off nearly £80 from their original quote making it cheaper than last years quote. Try it, it worked for me! :-)

I am using Admiral / Elephant (same group) they seemed to do the best quote for 5 years NCB and 10K miles. Flux wanted about 75 more, but were unlimited mileage. Try their online quote system, it actually is quite good.

Admiral/Elephant/Diamond/Bell/Confused.com are all Admiral, same building, same staff. Enjoy!

Hmn quite a positive response there, but...
I called HHH today (on a special renewal line)as with 2 weeks to go no renewal form received, although I got a letter 6-8 weeks back saying I would get get one with 3 weeks to go. Got tranferred to NU, in India I think. Having asked about the renewal and the premium I was put on hold as they had to go to an underwriter for the premium - now being in the insurance game although not motor, that staggers me. Anyway having listened to canned music for 5 mins I put the phone down. I then called HHH at Peterborough. As always very couteous and helpful, albeit they could not help very much, I now await a call from someone in NU. Which is all pretty much as I figured would happen along no doubt with a 50%+ premium hike. What I really liked about the Specialist unit was that they actually knew what an American car, and a Corvertte in particualr, was. I really don't want to have to talk to someone in India who has not got a clue.

Renewal time approaches. After a shambles with my other car on the handover from HHH to NU it comes as no surprise the same with the Vette. After much passing from pillar to post, putting on hold and suchlike they eventually said they no longer cover that type of car.
Michael Winner wouldn't quote.
His sister wouldn't quote.
Churchill quoted £935
Adrian Flux quoted £415 and that's where I'm going.

Well I could repeat the same story re NU. Insurance ran out on 30/6 and I still have nothing from them. When I last called them, about the 28th they still had no record of my car on their system.
Interestingly Flux quoted £900 so I didnt even bother phoning them. A fair number of others were high too so I think we have lost a real genm in HHH. Anyway I went with Stevenage Insurance Services who got me £580 which was only £20 higher than HHH last year, and I raised the annual mileage from 12K to 15K, so well pleased.

I'm with AON (formerly Bain Hogg) based in Dudley. They do both my T/A's (one on a classic policy, one on a future classic, and an even my daily driver (Jeep) as an "ever-day" cover. The Jeep was half the price of the cheapest quote anywhere and the classic policies have a carry-over of un-used mileage to the next year, and are agreed value. Had a major claim with them a few years ago without any problems. Highly recommended. They also know what American cars are, although they did wonder what the hell my newly aquired Chevy Tahoe was :-) But they eventually found it and gave me a quote the next day..
