Hey guys I have just got in from fitting my new electric roof. I got fed up with unbolting and bolting up the roof all the time. Now I just push a button and off it comes. Much easier!

Boy that sounds Bling, Bling. Did you manage to hide the servos - when we spoke you said something about mounting them externally.

Is this along the lines of the blue washer jets or are you serious?

I've seen two systems for this. An expensive one which folds the hard top into the trunk like the Merc SL and a cheaper one that is four explosive bolts which, when the button is pressed above 50mph, blow the roof clear.

I've not managed to hide the servos yet Richard. The electric wheel chair motor you gave me worked a treat though. More than enough torque to lift and swing the roof. I bought some MDF at Wickes earlier today and have a few ideas on how to cover the servo arms. Once I have that made up I should just need a lick of red paint to 'blend' them in and it will look like a real pro job.

We can then work on your electric roof

Yep - I need to see pictures of this as well...

It's not April the 1st, but I honestly can't see how the rig-up of a C4 coupe would allow an electric roof to the hardtop...

So, pix please???

It's all right folks, I know it's a hoax. You see I'm an aerodynamicist and I've calculated the torque required to open the roof at 180 MPH and its a lot more than a weedy old wheel chair motor can provide.

Bet you thought you had us fooled Brett
