The joey barton thread
Discussion
He's never played for any of the teams I follow, but, it seams as if the guys only point in being is to cause controversy.
Is there anyone out there who thinks he might actually be a posative influence on a team?
I mean, he's been captain at at least a couple of clubs (qpr & newcastle?), have you ever seen a performance where you thought he was outstanding (rather than merely being a controversial talking point)?

He can be really good.
Sometimes his reputation precedes him and he's booked / sent off for things simply because he's Joey Barton (there have been many other players who have been victims of this)
However, sometimes - like today - he's an absolute idiot.
I notice Carroll wasn't sent off but I'm sure Barton would have been for the same.

He's a hothead we all know but then Tevez did seem to start it today ... Barton just can't keep his cool though ...
On his day he's not the worst midefielder there is in the Prem - saw a game he played (can't remember who for, might have been Newcastle) v Wolves game where he got kicked all round the ground by the Wolves players and got no protection from the ref and didn't lose his head.
Ok, he retaliated and had to go but then kneeing Arguero and trying to headbutt Kompay was just mad ... and Mad Mario would have ripped his head off given the chance!
WHat do you doi with him? Sell him on as quickly as possible ... he's the bloody captain and his team needed him ON the field ...

There's a clip of some of his antics.

I he was half as good as he thinks he is, he'd be better than Messi.
Very average footballer, with the biggest discrepancy between size of mouth and brain in the history of mankind.
If it weren't for football, he'd be sitting in a shop doorway with a dog on some string and a piece of cardboard saying "cold + hungree". Or in jail.

Although I think he had potential to be doing a lot better than playing in a relegation-threatened team (and I mean no offence to QPR) but his attitude of thinking he is so much better than he is has spoilt his career IMO.
(although it was enormous fun watching him being booted all round Molineux)

So, Joey Barton, A Scouser who used to play for Man City, hands his former team-mates a massive advantage by getting sent off resulting in his former team winning the EPL (on goal difference).
Nothing strange about that at all....
You seriously think Joey Barton has the brains to figure that out??? He's not bright enough to work that out.Nothing strange about that at all....
Joey Barton is a liability, but he is also a character, a leader. He is someone who will stand up for himself and not roll over and die. Love him or loath him, he is an asset to a team (when he is on the field)
I do not really like him or his attitude, but he is the kind of player that Arsenal need. He is someone with balls, and Arsenal need bigger balls.

Interesting to hear that he's something arsenal need, I'm
Not entirely sure he's good enough for a "top four" team really?
