987 Boxster Instrument Display - Blank Screens?

Hi all, my first post, hopefully someone can help.

I have an '07 987 Boxster S with PCM, the 3.4l version.

Today, the two outer/smaller instrument digital display screens (left: Odometer, Right: Temp & Clock) went totally blank. The central speed display works fine. The displays are all back lit but the two smaller outer ones have nothing on them - so no mileage, trip, temp or clock...

I've reset everything I can to factory settings and have reset the PCM (1-4-8) but no joy. Not sure if its related but sometimes the PCM starts up and the screen is blank/black until I press Main or similar?

Any ideas? Any suggestions gratefully received before going to the garage and inviting them to gouge my wallet.

Mine occasionally does this when I turn the key to start then they come back on, also the fuel gauge goes to zero and the "check range" message thing stays on, can go weeks without doing it and then for no apparent reason does it again? Don't know what could be causing your problem but interested in the suggestions you might get,

Hi guys, I have the same issue, just started a few days ago but unfortunately not come back yet. Does anyone actually know what causes this ? Ta in advance.

Lol all back working again, very strange. Taking car to an Independent Mechanics on Friday to give the car a once over so will ask him about it, cheers.

Could you stick the solution on here as mine still does it, heven't run it for a while, I suspected a dodgy earth somewhere?
