Hi Cliff, sorry to see that there have been no replies or suggestions from any of the members yet! Obviously I have no experience of the LT5 engine but a little with calibration issues. When the SS was first put together in 2000 the calibration was tried with a hypertech, not much use however since the engine was a 383 with a procharger. A few months later a special program was done by Zimmer (I think) in the States, sadly too late as the engine had already expired. When I had a new engine built there did not seem to be anyone in the UK who could map the computer (I still think its a tricky area over here as there is not the same call for mapping/modifying vettes as the States, understandably). I sent the complete ECU with a full spec of the car to Fastchip in Oklahoma who very successfully mapped it and it has run well ever since. With the number of mods we have on the Pace car it soon became clear that although we had been told by several sources that the stock ECU would understand the mods that didn't really happen as we were not getting the performance from the mods that we should have. We are not confident ourselves to try LS1 edit so took the ECU on holiday to Texas 2 years ago to Arlington Motorsports in Dallas, the guy played around with it for about an hour since the spec. we gave him was very similar to dozens of vettes/f bodies that he'd already done. Brought the brain home and the car improved greatly, from a 13.15/106 to a 12.67/112 . I'm sure there must be people in the States sorting out the programming of ZR1's and would recommend trying that route! Good luck.

You could try Ron Zimmer at REMMIZR@aol.com
When my C5 was supercharged the PCM was sent to him for reprogramming. No problems.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you(had problems logging on),thanks for the recomendations on the calibration issues i will give them a try along with the other contacts in the states i have as they seem to be more up to date with their equipment and methods compared to over here.
First things first though as i need to address some mechanical problems such as where i have had new headgaskets fitted there is an oil leak on one side so black silicone has been smeared over the area, like wise with a coolant leak, needless to say the leaks continue and with gasket sets at $1391 a time you would have thought they would have sealed properly.
Still what do i know ime just a taxi driver

Crikey life is cheaper with an L98 - despite a massive reduction in horsepower (about by a factor of two) the gasket set for mine cost less by a factor of 12!

I'll let you know if it leaks once I've finished fitting it!

By the way - oil leaks from your engine - is it building up pressure in the crankcase? I.e. are any of the breather's blocked? Simple point but may be worth a check.

Would you run that by me again? What gaskets are you getting in the set and does it include the tty bolts? Is there a shipping cost and duty on top to pay?

Breather pipes!,christ the engines never run long enough for them to get blocked
