Thinking ahead for when I bring the Vette home.

I see that BM is the only dealer who can do warranty work in UK.

What parts do you find hard to get hold of in UK? I hear Mobil 1 oil can be tricky. Anything else?

I think you guys need to organise a "C5 Self Help Society".

No real probelem Dave. Stuff like brake pads, filters etc can be got from a decent motor factors shops or from the 3 or 4 specialist Corvette dealers. Equally many order direct from the main USA parts shops such as Ecklers, Mid America etc who all do overseas shipment. As for oil, see Richard's post the other day where Caddillac Europe confirmed 0/40, 5/40, 5/50 Mobil oils were all OK. Great colour!

If you want to do any upgrades/fit any aftermarket accessories I'd buy the parts in the US before you leave.

I concur. Service parts are easy to get hold of and inexpensive from a whole host of US parts suppliers but the cost of shipping from the US plus import duty and VAT sure piles the prices high even when you're getting 1.7 dollars to the pound.

Maybe we should put together a mega order of bits that people want and then get Eric the Brave to ship it.

I agree i want stuff but the shipping costs are putting it off, i'm sure theres plenty of people here that would want stuff if it worked out cheaper.

This is always an option. The only issue would be the "title" of ownership if we want to ship the orders as one and only have one duty and VAT bill!. I am certain that we could overcome this.

Maybe do a "once per month" shipment. We are up for it if it is of interest to everyone!!!!

I would just say that, in my experience, buying in the States is nearly always cheaper, despite the duty and VAT.

Thanks guys.

I'll stock up on the obvious before I come back. Sounds hopeful!
