This is especially for Sick Dick!!

Yesterday
Met at Clackett, usual suspects including EricTheBrave, Pete the Vette, RubyRagTop and the Sussex posse.
Went in convoy to Brands, met with Myles who got us all in for free except for a couple of stragglers who had to pay.....that will teach them for being late especially as one of them lives in Kent...even if it was there birthday yesterday.....perhaps they were getting their present .......
Myles arranged for us to all park together and then for a guided tour of the Embassy C5 pit and race car (also free Embassy caps for all!!)
Lee Rodgers also arranged to visit "the enemy" or Paragon Porsche as they are better known and some vette owners even sat in the race car.....splitters....your names were taken and you will be dealt with later!
The GT race started at 2 and before that there was the F3 race, Ginettas, VW Cup etc. Jason Plato was driving the Kaddy van in the VW Cup race which would have been good except all of the others keep crashing which mean 3 safety cars in 20 minutes the 3rd of which red flagged the race.
Neil Cunningham started the car from 5th and was soon running 3rd as he got past one of the Porsche and one of the Scuderia Ferraris decide it want to go and sit on the beach rather than go racing! The Ultima put in a storming first session and pushed the vette down to fourth and in fact took the lead. The Monaro went off causing a safety car period just as Neil was about to overtake the Gruppe M Porsche and was also within a couple of seconds of the Ferrari in 2nd.
During the safety car period nearly all of the cars changed drivers so Richard Hay took over from Neil Cunningham and after a slow 1st lap due to his lack of experience in the car and the terrible weather conditions Richard got to grips with the car and was doing a good job of holding 3rd behind the Ultima and the Gruppe M Porsche. Nathan Kinch had taken over the #35 Ferrari but it was about 20 seconds behind the Corvette and has lapping at least 2 seconds a lap faster than anything else on the track. Inevitably it caught the vette but rather than drive around it on the straight he decided to tap the vette into a 720 degree spin which ended with the car in the pit wall and out of the race whilst the Ferrari went on to win the race after another Ferrari helping safety car period late in the race.
I saw the same Ferrari do the same to the Mosler at Thruxton during the 1st race and yet again the organisers don't seem to penalise them in any way so obviously the vettes should be fitting railway sleepers to the front and then start bashing the Ferrari arses!

Left in disgust after the GT race as it was very cold and wet at Brands yesterday so you didn't miss too much and you need to stay at home in the warm until you are better......god, I sound like my mother!

Get well soon and the official team photographer Mr. T has all of the pics!

A great day, well apart from Rain and that ******* Ferrari, please extend my sincere thanks to Myles at Embassy Racing for his hospitality and interesting talk from his tech man, and the hat, at least it kept my hair dry.A big thank you to all that assisted in arranging.

Look forward to more race events!

Considering that you sat in your car with the wipers going and the heater on for a good 50% of the race having turned it around to get a good view, I am surprised that your hair got the chance to get wet!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know, fairweather spectators. LOL! Having said that, the speed at which you got out of the car to see the spinning corvette was quite remarkable. I was impressed... ( I was going to add " for a man of your age " but figured that it would be the pot calling etc... )

p.s. Happy Birthday Brett! Forgot to say it yesterday!

Talking about wipers, as I passed you on M25 I noticed a strange hand gesture, was this to assist with your esp wiper system

Was this as I left you standing over a short burst or as you then got the hump and blew my old doors off???????

Just had a call from Dave Beecroft of Embassy Racing. He called to thanks us for our support!!! I told him that we all had a fab day and were really grateful to him and his guys for making us so welcome.

For the record, the Ferrari did hit the Vette. It just nudged him but in those conditions, it was all that was needed. Apparently they run with traction control , hence the 2 secs advantage. Richard Hay is fine but the car may have two damaged hubs and steering bits etc. All are being replaced and crack tested.

He tells me that Sophie will be keeping in touch and letting us know what is going on with the team etc.

Nice of him to call, I thought.

I went and saw the car after the race. All the bodywork on the right hand side was showing signs of concrete abrasion and had the panel alignment of a 1970s Skoda. Bodywork was rubbing on the front tyre, a fair bit of the hubs look like it had been ground away and it all looked a bit sad. Still Richard Hay looked quite chipper and thought that the incident should look good on the in-car video as it was mounted on the right hand side !

Just wanted to add that despite the great British weather the GT Championship was worth waiting for.

Good turnout by the CCCUK & good of the Embassy Racing Team plus Dave Beecroft, the team principal of Xero Competition - to take time out with us in the morning.

Cheers, Lee (aka Porsche splitter...)

Pics are being developed the old fashioned way. Just imagine cars and raindrops and you'll be pretty close though. I only managed one snap during the race and that was at the start, the rest was a damp blur !

Just wanted to add my thanks to any and all that helped to make Sunday an enjoyable if somewhat damp day. I never liked ferrari's before Sunday, I absolutely loathe them now.

The only sound I heard it make was the sound of flying gravel

The Ultima was the one for me regarding noise, it sounded brilliant decelerating into to Paddock Hill Bend.
