Can someone talk to me about using snow foam and which is the best brand please ?

I'm assuming, from my limited knowledge of these things, you spray it all over via a jet wash attachment, leave it to do its stuff, and then jet wash off with water and it'll take most of the crap off without the need for swirling sponges ?

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Pretty much yes.

Cover the car with foam and allow to dwell (not dry) then jet off.

The idea is it's a pre-wash ridding the car of a lot of crap before you touch it with a mitt or sponge thus reducing the risk of damage during the wash process.

This is what I use...

I use Bilt Hamber foam from 'Ultimate'

'dwell' time is open to discussion - but in an ideal world after 1-2minutes the foam should start to 'drop' off the car

also some say you should wash the car first before using foam - i'd not agree - use the foam on a 'dry' car

Do you mean wet or wash?

If you wash prior the snow foam has nothing to remove and you've rubbed dirt all over the car defeating the object of a pre wash.

At least that's how I understand it.

I know this isn't the method that the detailing experts would agree with, but I always:

1. Go round the whole of the car first with the jetwash, blowing-off (oo-er) any dirt particles etc
2. Go round the car again with the snow foam attachment on the jetwash
3. Fill up a bucket with clean water (this allows the foam to 'dwell' for a minute)
4. Go round the entire car with a wash mitt, dipping the mitt into the clean water bucket after every panel.
5. Rinse the entire car with the jetwash.

The problem with step 4 is all the dirt and grit that the foam has loosened is now being used to scratch the paint when you use the wash mit...

Yes, you should jetwash the snowfoam off before washing it in the normal way.
The normal way being;
2 buckets, one solution and one with clean water. Use a wash mitt not a sponge
Rinse the mitt in the clean water after every panel

Invest in a quality lance too. That will make a lot of difference. The Autobrite ones are superb.
