I cracked the alloy sump on my Caterham and have had it repaired.
They have ground of the old part and welded a new plate on but
the filings are all over it and in parts of the baffling that I can't
get to, what would be the best way to remove all the swarf?

Take it apart, use degreaser or soapy water and just clean it.

I guess it depends how many inaccessible areas of the sump there are for cleaning. But it is just a matter of cleaning

Hosepipe, ideally a jet wash, and lots, and lots, and lots of water squirted everywhere!

(not too bad in this weather, less fun in winter.... ;-)

It doesn't come apart it's all welded as one piece.
I have jet washed it, then, ahem, put it in the dishwasher ( I hope she doesn't read that)
And have been washing out with petrol and filtering the petrol
To see how much is coming out, must have flushed it 40 times
And still finding bits in there!

Slosh out with Cellulose Thinners/Gun wash (the cheap one) its highly flammable mind and don't inhale the fumes frown trust me its good st yes also have to hand an air line/blow jet to blow out the little shards/swarf and you will have a nice oil/grease free spotless sump before you know it you can leave to soak too for best results fill up to or above the baffles 5 litres should do ya biggrin if you filter it after you can use it to clean/degrease other bits and pieces but keep it away from plastics & rubber headache

Assuming the swarf is alluminium you don't need to worry too much. Anything big will get caught in the oil pick up strainer, anything smaller will go through the oil pump and get caught in the main filter. As it's ally going through the steel pump gears shouldn't be too much of an issue. Get it clean as you can, then get it rebuilt!

Thanks I did wonder about leaving it to the filter to do its job.
Any way all back together having been flushed countless times
With petrol then thinners, I'll run it for a couple of 100 miles then
Oil & filter change (assuming it lasts!)

I would have put in the dishwasher. But then I am a single man with nobody asking me awkward questions.

But your method sounds good too!
