throttle cable adjustment perhaps?
Discussion
so I bought a shed of a 95' polo the other day, and the throttle has quite a bit of 'play' before you actually make any revs.
thinking the throttle cable might have stretched or been adjusted wrong.
is it an easy thing to do to adjust it?
im guessing its just find both ends of it, and turn a bolt or something? no?
anyone?

A lot of throttle cables just have a clip holding the cable back near the throttle body, it may just be a case of pull clip out, pull cable back, and reslot clip back into new position.
But you may go too far and when at full throttle you are over pulling putting strain on the cable and stretching it. May be best to test it first by getting an assistant to push the pedal all the way down and testing for play on the throttle body, if you can open the throttle more its too slack.
