I found CP4L on a search for ignition bits. Being a suspicious sort, I had a bit of a look up on my credit software & it turns out they are in effect a subsidiary of Euro car parts.

Same looking website, parts have the same sku numbers and so on, but they are 20%+ cheaper. Why would they do that? I'm never touching ECP again, now I know they have another site on which they're willing to hand me a chunk of the margin.

I'm sure there's a good reason, but I don't get it.

i thought that as well but actually with the right discount codes euro car parts works out the same if not cheaper.
Also the parts arrive with ecp on them anyway! heck of a lot easier to take or pick up ecp parts!

Also check the Euro Car Parts ebay store. They can be cheaper on there for certain things.

Yep. Less overheads as its internet only. So, if its wrong or faulty then the returns process is quite a bit lengthier than rocking up to an ecp branch

If I need something that I'm unsure of or need the ability to take it back that day then I use ecp. If not I use cp4l

Yes, the codes are handy but they tend to make offers on service parts more than anything and this is effectively a discount across the range and ECP has a well developed internet offer in any event. It seems like duplication for no real purpose.

I got an exedy clutch from CP4L for my MR2 for less than £50 delivered.

Think it was about £80 on ECP so a nice little saving smile

One thing I don't get about ECP is the apparent massive 'saving' over the proper price.

I bought new rear disks and pads for the missus car this week (tomorrows job), and the invoice was something like: (guessing here but it's not far off)

Disks - RRP £120 - Price Paid - £31.20
Pads - RRP £45 - Price Paid £17.00

etc

Heck of a price cut if true, but I don't think ECP sell £120 of parts for £40...

Still, chuffed with the price anyway, and reserved online with a discount code, drove 3 miles to our local and picked it up, job jobbed.

Went to ECoPfor disks and pads for nieces Astra, front disks RRP £110, ECP £20.70, similar reductions on the pads and rear disks. These were Pagid and were on the money. I was quoted 3 different prices and eventually bought in line at the cheapest price with free delivery..

... i guess the new owners are looking to increase the no doubt paper thin margins back when there was a genuine 30% voucher code almost always available in some shape or form. Non of the car club discount codes seem to work anymore either.
On a marque specific forum I visit there's a 30% discount code but I did see a post the other day saying it was suspended while they had an up to 50% sale on most items - however if an item in the sale was discounted less than 30% then they said they'd honour the forum discount.

Trying to order a new cat and backbox for the E36 now.

- CarParts4Less is £107.04, down to £92.04 using a £15 off code.
- EuroCarParts is £110.85, down to £99.76 using a 10% off code.
- GSF CarParts is £125.26 including a random £10.45 of I didn't have to ask for.

Ringing GSF up I can get him to lower the cat at 'trade' price as a step to price-match ECP/CP4L which is £121 something.

Parts wise ECP show it the cat as 'available to order, 24-48h leadtime' online, nothing in branch, but ringing up they have it in another branch and get relocate it over 'hopefully for the morning, if not by the afternoon' and can match the online prices in stoke else once they have moved it I can click and collect from online.
GSF show as having the cat out of stock to collect, and the backbox as out of stock even to deliver, but they have a backbox in the Birmingham branch and and get the whole lot ready to collect for tomorrow morning. They cant and wont match their own '35% this weekend only' online prices in store.

As my free-reset runs out on Monday (its Wednesday) and my insurance tomorrow night its fairly time critical to get the bits and hopefully blow a good emissions test, else the cars is sadly most likely getting weight in at its a high mile E36 in red with the fading and failing clear coat the entails!

GSF also stock the exhaust 'fitting kit' which comes with the gasket and the bolts rather than just the gasket leaving me to find suitable bolts. But all in all, a nats cock between them actually.

GSF is £21 (about 21%) more to collect but would be £20 cheaper on a 35% off weekend.
ECP is the baseline and will do collection or delivery which is a bonus.
CP4L can knock £8 off ECP prices but only for delivery, with likely the 24-48h stock delay.

I use ECP and SKS. SKS usually wins on price but ECP wins on service, quick delivery and a local(ish) branch makes life easier if there's a problem. I find the guys on the counter @ ECP helpful as well.

SKS good price but longer delivery, often stuff takes ages and seems to come directly from the manufacturer. A bigger range available.
ECP usually requires a discount code for the best price. Range not so good but quick delivery.
GSF aren't always clear about which brand you're getting.
Carparts4less work out about the same as ECP so I don't see the point.

They are horrendous for this, even with a trade account !

RRP's are a load of rubbish on the Euro's site btw, the baseline is what the car maker charges for the parts and there is usually a substantial difference.

We have fairly good terms with a Ford parts supplier & can get original service parts at the same price or sometimes less than the aftermarket OE spec parts that euros list 'RRP's for...

Car parts 4 less stock the same stuff as Eurocarparts. Also over-all they end up being cheaper (albeit not by much).

Toptip: use QuidCo and you get 10% cashback, so even more savings!
