Thought this might be of interest to those thinking about getting one!

Ordered.

Except i have not checked whether Kodi can be side-loded yet... so it may well be useless to me but at 19€ who can complain!

Was thinking about buying a Chromecast but does this provide the same (and more) functionality at a lower price?

Hmm, Ordered.

£19 with prime is fair enough. I thought £79 for the amazon box thing was a bit steep compared to my Rokus.

Chromecast is pants, so I hope this will do the job of the Roku and the Chromecast and give access to Prime without faffing around with the laptop.

Delivery estimated on release day 15th April, so stand-by...

Would not recommend Chromecast from my experience.

For £19, worth a punt. Will stick it in the bedroom (currently have an antiquated Magic Eye set up!)

What does this do that a smart tv/Now tv doesn't?

It's simply trying to get people to join amazon prime. Bit st if you ask me (that kind of railroading).

You don't reckon it's a well-meaning public service then?

I actually find Amazon Prime great value - this is just a bonus!

Decided to order one and went for Prime membership as well. Man maths means I have already saved £28 on the Fire and £7.99 postage on the Micro SD Card that I convinced myself I needed today.

I know my argument is flimsy so no need to point our the error of my ways!

You don't need to watch many films and buy much on amazon before you've got your money's worth.

Plus if you order anything with 'no rush delivery' you get a £1 credit to spend on Kindle, Music or Amazon instant video purchases. Adds up pretty quickly.

The amount of things I buy (personally and for work) using my Amazon account is crazy - I think it worked out last year to something like 40p per next day delivery!

Good point - I noticed they introduced this recently...a nice way to get some free new films!

Mine arrived today and it works well, as good as my Apple TV box.

Watched a film and quality was good, bargain at the discounted price.

No-rush deliveries often take barely longer than Next-day anyway. Not that I've actually found much to spend the credits on yet!

Mine arrived yesterday. Netflix and Prime worked brilliantly (which is all I really wanted) but iPlayer stutters quite a bit, so I'll have to keep the Roku for that.

Much more impressive than Chromecast, which I found a bit pants.

At £19 (or even at £35) it's superb value. Especially if it is the straw that breaks the TV License's back.
