Anyone getting one? Haven't had a Samsung before, have stuck to HTC the last few years, got an iphone 4s as a stop gap when the last one broke.

Seems to be getting decent reviews so will probably pick one up as am due an upgrade, but seeing as it's launch day thought I'd ask for early adopters to provide views before I order one.

Nope. They've removed the SD card slot which means it's a "no" for me at the moment....

My S5 will remain for at least another year I think. But the HTC One looks interesting.

Why a need for so much storage?

The OS and apps take up a good chunk of useable space, so you don't have 128Gb (say) of genuinely useable storage.

I have around 90Gb of music that I prefer to carry around with me - yes, it's possible to sync specific parts of this (though that's still clunkier than when using the full Mac ecosystem). But inevitably the stuff I want to listen to isn't with me when I do that. So I prefer to have a full sync.

I like to have a reasonable selection of movies on there as well (mainly for my nipper to watch)

Photos/video takes up space. Especially with the resolution these things are now capable of.

And then things like email add to the mix.

I have 160Gb available on my S5 using a 128Gb SD card. It means I don't have to think too hard about how I use the device (though more would also be readily useable!). I could probably get away with 128Gb but it would mean more thought/fiddling around...which defeats the object.

Fortunately my music storage requirements etc are no longer growing as quickly as the internal memory on smartphones, so in a couple of years it's unlikely to be a problem for me any more...but right now it is.

well I guess you don't listen too often the same song again and again... biggrin

TBH not having the SD is also a big no for me as well. I don't understand why they took this decision.
I can't see it taking a lot of space, despite the fact that the curved screen on the "Edge" might force them to move the slot to the bottom.

I've had an S3 and currently an S5, will not be going S6 as I also have a card full of music I carry around with me.

I think I'll probably go Sony next, I just missed the Z3 coming out last time around and may well have gone that way if it had been available.

Half tempted to see how the windows 10 phones turn out, if its good and attracts more developers / ports of apps I use I could well be tempted, provided it has the card slot (currently the 830 does, but the 930 doesn't).

Nah I bet most of that 90GB of "music" is pr0n wink

The lack of an SD slot and non removable battery were dealbreakers for me too, so I went for the Note 4. Fantastic bit of kit and you get used to the bigger size pretty quickly.

Gave up with Samsung when they introduced the region locking stunt, now they have deleted the microSD. Will stick with The Sony Z2 I bought after the S3 which does everything I need, can't think of why I would want to change it.

The latest phones don't seem to introduce something new anymore, small incremental changes or refinements, not enough to go wow must have..

There is no slot on the S5. You take the rear cover off and the SD socket is underneath.

(I either tend to listen to a couple of albums solidly for a week or two, or have the library on random. The latter's a good way to remind yourself of some of the old stuff you have but had forgotten about...not always positively smile).

You don't need storage for that. Just a decent 3G connection biggrin

Used to be but ditched the iPhone at the 4. Apple were, and still are, going nowhere with iOS and having played with an Android phone I much preferred some of the OS features. iOS introduced some latterly (e.g. not having to go down 50 levels to turn bluetooth on and off) but I'd already switched by then.

Higher capacity storage and easily replaceable batteries were also deciding factors.

Am Mac through and through on the computer front still, and can't see that changing any time soon. Though I'm far from convinced by the new Macbook and am starting to have a bit more sympathy with those who feel Apple are more style over substance.

OS X remains a quality OS (I haven't gone to Yosemite yet though) and Apple do know how to build really nice hardware.

Yes, but I guess there will not be a rear cover on the S6 as the battery cannot be replaced.

I've got the S6 Edge, it feels incredible! Glass rear screen bonded to the metal casing, thus no option to open it up for expanding memory.

It's a lovely phone, camera is ridiculous, feels very sleek in hand and screen is by far the best I've seen so far.

Probably wouldn't go for the curved screen, I'm a tad clumsy with phones so would have to go in a decent case.

If the rumours/spy shots are to be believed the new (as yet unannounced) Sony Z4 won't have a micro SD slot either.. frown

I've ordered the 'normal' S6 for this reason. I love the look of the edge and bet it's incrediblely nice to hold. But I need my phone in an otterbox case and at the mo they only cater for non-edge s6. Hope I've made the right choice!?! Should be arriving today or tomorrow.

Ordered a normal S6, arriving tomorrow.

Couldn't justify the additional £190 across contract term for the fancy edges, as nice as they are to look at.

Had a look at the edge instore and actually prefer the S6. The curved glass is a bit annoying how it refracts the light. And I don't really like how the curves make the screen seem narrower. Once the novelty of edges wears off the S6 will be the better bet.

Easier to hold too.

I've got the 'normal' S6. It arrived on Friday.

I'm blown away by how good it is and what an upgrade it is from my old S3! It's simply stunning. I've barely been using my iPad since I got it! I for one do not miss the removable battery or memory slot, I didn't need to access either on my S3.

I have an S6 Edge on order with Three on an eye watering contract! They've said they aren't getting them in till first week of May.

The lack of SD card is quite annpoying but I'll get over it I'm sure.

Have got one & first impressions are good. Battery life could be better, a bit of light use throughout the day pretty much drained it. Am not hugely fussed about storage as I won't be using it to watch films etc. Still getting used to the newer features on Android but seems to be smoother than the iPhone so far.

If that's true, I will stick with Z2 or Z3.

It's one of my favourite features.
