Hi all,

Well after a successful journey to Portsmouth and an enjoyable catch up with PompeyTim, Richard at Southways has had my chassis blasted - couple of pictures below (thanks Rich!!)

Chassis is pretty much as expected - main issues are in the outriggers and work needed to the rear beam. Good news, is the main backbone and top sections are in good condition...PHEW

There have been a couple of previous bodges - 1 to the passenger side outrigger which I knew about, and one to the rear upright which I definitely didn't!!! I'm sure that will be looking MUCH neater by the time Rich has finished with it smile

I've been continuing with the engine (sorry no pics). Lots of cleaning last weekend using PhilPots excellent advice and continuing to strip down. Need to get the timing cover off to sort it out (it's really manky). Got 1/2 the pulley off but have had to order a removal tool to get the rest off. Ordered several different POR15 products last week, so that should help make it look a bit prettier!

Cheers for now,
Andrew

Wow, don't think I've ever seen substantial corrosion on the rear upright before.

Will be looking better than new before you know it!

We had an S3 chassis in last year which needed work there, and that was (oddly) on the offside too.

Is in a bit of a state Andrew but sure it can be sorted.

"blasted" metal will rust almost immediately, are you getting some protection on it or blasting again after repairs?

Not sure to be honest Mike, I think it will be blasted again post welding?

Le TVR has a close eye on proceedings anyway as you can see in the last pic... smile
