Thomas Cook Sport Village Private Camping
Arrival Date: Thursday, 11th June 2015
Number of Nights: 4
Number of People: 2
Room Type: 2 Person Luxury Pitch - Private Camping
Subtotal: £686.00
Additions: £324.00
Item Total: £1,010.00
That was for a pitch where you could park your car next to your tent, general entrance tickets (x2) and grandstand tickets (x2 in Panorama).
Would recommend it, will be going back there again for 2016.

Thank you for the info, I have to admit thats pretty high, but Im hoping its all the extras.
Im really after the price of a big pitch for car and tent, seperate price for pre-erected tent and also general entrance.
Im not after the extras like food, grandstands.
If anyone has a breakdown that would be great.

God I'd hope it does at those prices!
Most private camping options with the same pitch with ample room for car+tent come in sub £400pp - and don't have you camping in sperm tree central.
Be interested to know where? Sub £400pp for private camping for 2 people in a car? Most private camping options with the same pitch with ample room for car+tent come in sub £400pp - and don't have you camping in sperm tree central.

Adding in the £114 for the crossing means it was only £18 (£9 each) more expensive than the same package with First Tickets/PH private camping in 2014.
OP - pre erected tent with First Tickets last year was £140 so I would imagine Thomas Cook is similar but I couldn't say for sure. Best bet is probably to ring them as I doubt anyone will have made a note of all their 2015 prices (other than their competitors).
In case you're still wondering.... This is my airtrack breakdown from this year. Was for 5 nights, 2 person half pitch with parking next to the pitch (not guaranteed to be next to pitch, but never had an issue before). I've also included the cost of 2 general entry tickets, 2 grandstand tickets and 2 P&O ferry crossings. You can deduct those from the total cost if not interested.
Astounding value if you ask me.
Camping...............£218
Parking...............£149
Grandstand............£184
General Entry.........£140
Ferry (return)........£90
Total.................£781
£390.50 per person.

Certainly seems to have gone up a bit. It is a great place to stay though.
We have gritted our teeth and booked it up. Bagged Dunlop Grandstand seats too
TC must make a killing out of running AirTracks. Just wish their website was less clunky. A real nightmare to use on an iMac with Safari.

WOW!! I'm in shock right now at how expensive it is. I was looking at the website yesterday and thought they must have put it up wrong. I therefore emailed them and they confirmed its correct.
So for 2 people in a car with the "luxury" of having their car next to them, a camping pitch (no ferry or other extras) is..... £876 (£438 each)
So lets compare..
An ACO camping pitch at Houx, numbered with electric is about £150, so Thomas Cook want £726 extra for a piece of grass. People will say that there is food and drink available and a band, but that is at an extra cost and the profit from that would pay for the band.
If we compare to Travel Destinations, 2 people at their campsite "WITH" Dover crossing and entrance ticket is £399 each and that's making a good profit.
Re-Cap based on 2 people each
Thomas Cook £438
Travel Dest £399 (with ferry and entrance ticket)
ACO £75
I'm sure they will sell out, but I for one will be giving it a miss

Airtrack is expensive, but it is good. The lavs and showers are all regularly cleaned and available - even at the busiest of times you don't have to wait long. Also, we love the security, the camp is ringfenced so that worry is taken away. We have left stuff lying about, speakers, booze, devices on charge etc and I've never known anything to be nicked. On top of which it is a nice site, there are plenty of trees offering shade from sun and rain. Then there is the handy bar and on-site catering. We don't use them all that much, but it's great to have breakfast sorted.
All in all a great experience, I'm travelling down with a group of friends for my fifth consecutive year there. For me, it's worth paying a bit more for the 'premium camping', but then again I prefer the comforts as I get older. You generally get what you pay for.

Pitch with parking, 2x entry tickets and Sommer Grandstand a staggering £1200.
At the end of the day it is well run and secure with great access to the track. TC Website a total mess - ended up using phone as it was easier.
I know some prices are hard to justify without complete knowledge of the outrageous prices the organizers are forced to pay to service companies etc, but with regard the increase over 2015, it has been announced that all private sites from this year have been subjected to VAT (20%) increase.
This is notoriously difficult to claim back from the french government.
So unfortunately all sites that rent from the ACO will have a significant increase!
It really is a case of 'Don't shoot the messenger'!

Here's my TC sport price breakdown for next year, recently booked, Wednesday to Monday (5 nights). I've included the extras too (grandstand, ferry, etc.):
4 person pitch with parking: £960 (£240 per person)
1 Extra on site parking space: £149 (£37.25 per person)
4 general admission tickets: £312 (£78 per person)
4 Grandstand tickets: £348 (£87 per person)
4 return ferry tickets dover to calais with 2 standard sized cars: £180 (£45 per person)
Grand Total: £1,949 (£487.25 per person)
So to summarise, that's four people for 5 nights at airtrack, with two parking spaces on site, as well as four tribune 19 grandstand tickets. Once the cost of four P&O ferry tickets from dover to calais with two vehicles is added on, it comes to £487.25 per person. It's a bit more than last year, but still represents great value IMO given the quality of the site and staff.
