Perusing the classifieds of an evening and spotted this. Anyone know the car / owner? Looks smart in the pictures and it's got low kms. Any clues on Lotus maintenance in Dubai? Nightmare or just standard Dubai hassle?
Perusing the classifieds of an evening and spotted this. Anyone know the car / owner? Looks smart in the pictures and it's got low kms. Any clues on Lotus maintenance in Dubai? Nightmare or just standard Dubai hassle?

it's owned by a guy called sean. he owns 4 lotus' at the moment and has had many more. pretty much THE authority on elise/exige cars in the uae and a very nice guy to boot. he also used to [may still do, not sure] contribute to evo middle east with his lotus exploits.

there are 2 options for servicing. first is to get to grips with the car yourself. they're very simple and little to go wrong. that one has the benefit of the GCC upgrades - sand filter, additional insulation, uprated cooling and 2 a/c circuits. that lot covers most of the known gripes that the car suffers from [engine and driver cooling!]. others are well documented online but they're easily sorted [sloppy gearshift etc].
second is to use lotus themselves at festival centre. still not been in for a proper visit but i called them this afternoon to see if they had an adaptor for the alloy wheel nuts. they said 'we think so' so i drove up. it was waiting for me at the parts desk [volvo showroom] and cost 24dhs which his cheaper than you can buy them for in the uk. no usual b
ks about chassis number etc., i was in and out in 2mins. lovely!
i must make a proper visit soon [the red exige v6 is calling my name] but one PHer works in the showroom itself and another in the volvo showroom where the service dept is.
