In case anyone else in interested - Silverstone full GP circuit on 2 November through Goldtrack.

I am booked for my once a year pootle around!

Much cheaper than August/September though naturally more of a weather risk.

I am considering doing the Goldtrack organised Silverstone GP circuit track day on the 7th Sept. Anyone else going? Will also ask on the Noble forum as they are a friendly lot to hangout with.

Is that a new addition Mark?

Look forward to seeing you down there. Fingers crossed the fog isn't an issue.

Just parked up now at the Premier Inn near the circuit.

Well we saw some interesting cars and had some interesting chats...but fog killed the day - no track time. Abandoned session at 12.30.

Really disappointing but probably a fair call by Silverstone. Had a good drive up and back and gave someone a passenger ride so not all lost.

That is a shame. It is a great track.

How have Silverstone dealt with the cancellation? Do you get another date or a rebate?

The day was organised by Gold Track rather than Silverstone. They are giving full credit to use on another track day. I will probably wait until the Spring now as the next full GP circuit day is mid December which will be a short day in terms of daylight, and weather risks even greater.

Maybe March/April.

I did one at Silverstone in late November. It was wet, cold and the day finished with snow. The Ultima wheels were either spinning or locked. I did learn how to keep it on the track, so not a total waste of money.

Good that you get another go.

Last time I did the GP track, was with my Atom, which was a hoot, I really enjoyed it.

I attended the PH SS @ Silverstone last mth on the National circuit. The Ultima with it's suspension tweaks was much improved over previous outings, but the tyres & brakes couldn't cope, in std spec (i.e. P-Zeros and std AP brakes)..... I imagine after 4-5 laps on the GP track an Ult in std trim would need a rest to let things recover!

I guess your first step would be to get some upgraded brake pads. Not necessary to go for full out race pads but some decent fast road/track pads should work fine. That should improve things enormously

What issues did you have with the brakes?

Spongy pedal... I suspect it overheated the std pads. It wasn't fluid (I've had the dreaded pedal-to-the-floor before), so think it needs a better pad for track work, along with some ducting to aid cooling.

PZeros aren't upto it ether, they'd melted after 10mins with the fronts comically understeering and the rears braking traction at silly speeds. This will be remedied soon with new wheels and Porsche GT3 Michelin tyres over the winter wink

What are others using on track?

More likely to be fluid than pads if pedal went to floor?

What fluid are you using? Castrol srf )or whatever it's now called) or motul rbf660 are very good.

I used rbf660 and rs29s and I overheat on trackdays first now!

Agreed prob fluid issue. I have done multiple Nurburgring laps with zero brake fade on std Ultima pads.
