Hello Gents,

I have taken a liking to the 2015 Yacht Master Everose.

It is obviously a rather splendid and not inexpensive item.

I have no previous experience of new Rolex purchase. Should I prostrate myself for a sans lube official dealer experience, or can a chap with the requisite coin in hand wander willy nilly casually taking offers from grateful watch mongers.

i.e. Is there a discount to be had ?, or is there a waiting list longer than the M1.

I don't deal in watches, but I am interested in them.

I was offered via a trade contact one for a small premium over list for one of the first ones in the country. I didn't take up the offer.

Since then I visited Watches of Switzerland in Knightsbridge a few weeks ago - they had one for sale at RRP in the window.

Tried it on wanting to really like it but, on the wrist, I just really didn't like the 'rubber' strap.

It was well designed and manufactured when you examined it carefully but it didn't look to my eye coherent with the design of the watch body.

I asked the salesperson about the response they had found; since it was announced at Basel they had gathered names of 20 people who wanted to be on the waiting list.

However, when they had the watch in stock, they called all of them and no one decided to purchase.

Personally, if you can wait 6 months, I think you will be able to get a much better deal.

There's one in the window of my local AD. Wanted to love it, but it's way too small - unless it comes in different sizes?

They come in 37 and 40 mm I think so you may have seen the smaller one

That's true.

The smaller 37mm version has the code 268655 whereas the larger one is 116655.

The RRP of the smaller one is a fair bit lower so it is worth double checking the product code to ensure a like for like comparison.

I just got back from a business trip to Malaysia, I was offered one for £12,500 after exchange rate.

Apparently not a popular watch with the Malay watch buyers, so the manager of the Rolex boutique was telling me.

If you're considering a watch purchase on that scale, you should talk to Dominic Hackett. DomH on here, or google Hackett watches. He may or may not be able to source you one at an attractive price, but in my experience he's a thoroughly decent chap and he won't mind the enquiry.
