Anyone remember these or even had one?
I seem to remember a few of them had the 2.0 engine like the EGT and SE...
Seemed a bit more special than the later primeras! smile Rather quick too!

Were they the ones with the dreadful TVR-type chameleon paint jobs?

No that was the one after...
Forgot about those!, How radical of Nissan! Don't think you'd see them doing that to any of the current range! smile

A pretty decent car compared to the Cavaliers and Sierras of the time. My only concern was the ste awful turning circle. I remember having to do a 3 point turn at every ramp in some ultra tight 60's multistorey car park in London with a load of disgruntled motorists behind me.

Can't explain why, but I have a soft spot for Primeras if this age. Probably because they were on Gran Turismo as a kid, think they were in the BTCC as well?

The saloons look great.

Nissan have always had decent colours in their range, they went through a spell where their orange, green and blue was the nicest (IMO) of all marques!

Yup, sad. I know.

They were in the BTCC and I'm sure I remember them as being one of the loudest.

I remember the early 1990s Nissan adverts. "You can with a Nissan." I can only find the Micra one from the series but I remember the Primera being shown going through a funfair ghost train type thing.

I bought one, a 1.6 in dark grey metallic, totally anonymous. It spent a lot of time between 6 and 7k revs, poor thing. Ah, those were the days.

I had an eGT in black, very good car, solid and a good all-rounder. 150bhp was a fair bit back then too.

My parents had a Primera Circuit great car from what I remember. My mate had an eGT and the rod/valve popped out the block on the M27 (prior to that he had just paid me to valet his car and he then put it up for sale)

My mate had a red 2.0 eGT - I remember it having remarkably comfortable leather seats and being really rather quick - 150bhp 2.0 from memory

I had one as my first company car. As a 20 year old I was gutted when I was passed the keys to the used turquoise primera with grey leather trim. After a day or two driving around North Yorkshire however I was well pleased. Cracking engine and a great chassis which ultimately lead to my particular examples unfortunate demise - after a couple of years of impersonating a racing taxi the lovely dohc motors timing chain let go! It really was great a great car and a bit of a sleeper.

Dad had 2.. a P10 1.6
as the P10 had nothing need doing to it in 5 years from new other than oil n service
He bought a 1.6 P11 144,
Repeat from above.. 5+ years and nothing went wrong. no factory niggles, no fitment issues, nothing. Did the servicing and started every day.

I bought a old P11 144 wagon 5 years ago as a shed, 2.0 (chain engine, 1.6 is belt) 131 hp manaul.. nice free reving engine, not a bad steer for what it was. In 18 months or so i had her, I changed the oil n filter (use OEM , dont use not pattern oil filters) and horror of horrors a front drop link failed. So I treater her to a pair of OEMs for 50€ and all was well in the world again.

If I was after a shed agian.. I would look at P11's or 144 without hesitation.

PS. NPOC.co.uk. Nissan primara owners club was an excelent resource of knowledge and many nice guys.

Had a 1994 eGT it was great. Engine loved to be revved and was relatively frugal, stable competent chassis. Still stands out as one of my all time favourite cars. L440 MJO RIP.
