Hi

I recently got a driving license renewal letter and renewed my license.

1) I passed my driving test in October 2006 but it is 2015 (9 years), why have I got the license renewal letter a year early?

2) My license 4b expiry date stated this year, that is not 10 years?

Thanks

It started from the issue date of your provisional - also a licence albeit with restrictions

Interesting, I thought it would count from when I passed my full driving test. Is it documented on the internet that its from the date of receiving the provisional?

^^

They expire to keep the photo up to date, they don't take a new photo when issuing new entitlements

The issue date has been on your photocard for the last decade without changing...

Why would you think that?

You applied for a licence and got one issued with 10 year entitlement (albeit provisional)

What happens if you don't pass your test - it runs out 10 years after issue

Changes of address or entitlement don't re-start the clock it's valid for the original 10 years and then it needs renewing

Strange because my now destroyed full driving license photocard had an expiry date in 2015, which would have meant a start date in 2005. That's when I got my provisional as I passed in 2006?

Read what people are saying above! the date of renewal is based on the date of issue of your provisional which would have been in 2005 so 10 years = 2015

Oh, and can you please spell the name of the document correctly... it is a licence not a licenSe
