With the recent installment of jurassic park you'd have thought dinosaurs would be all the rage in toy shops, but it's just not the case!

My daughter turns 3 in 6 weeks and I wanted to get her something cool for her main present. I remember there being a sit-on triceratops around a few years ago - a bit of research shows Koto the Triceratops has been long discontinued frown

Then I remembered there being a very clever interactive dinosaur which was quite expensive at the time - Pleo the Dinosaur has also been long discontinued frown

Either of these toys would have delighted my little girl but today the shops seem to reflect a desire for tablets and video games rather than physical, clever toys.

Is there anything I'm missing? Perhaps there.is something on the market I'm not aware of - maybe PH can help? For now I'm stuck trying to find one second-hand where the seller doesn't want to achieve the RRP on resale!!

But it's for the children - the children! Shame on you for putting a monetary value on a child's happiness.

Buy her a bucket of plastic dinosaurs.

Build an island out of paper mache and paint it with her?

Endless fun. wink

The Natural History Museum is a great suggestion, I tend to buy my nephews experiences rather than stuff.

Years later, he still says it was his best day out ever, he was so excited at the dinosaurs he lost his voice for 3 days.

Shhh!

That's what I'm going to do during the day of her birthday - glad everyone else thinks it is a good idea too, I was a bit worried she would be too small to appreciate it.

I went in 2007 when we were also at the ROC at Wembley. Can honestly say I'd rather have spent the two days looking round the museum! I was 14 at that time and I fking loved it!

Just decided to do a sanity check on that, and yep, there's a guy running around after crane flies and throwing them into epoxy resin.

I might leave the lights on and doors open tonight.
