After many months of my iPhone getting slower and then the home button not always working, today it died. Well almost.

The screen is constantly blank (as in it looks like the phone is off) but it rings when dialled and vibrates when I use the volume switch on the side so that I can switch it from silent. The volume buttons also work and when I connect to my iMac I can still import photos so the photos app can see the phone.

When the phone rings though I swipe the screen where I know the swipe bar is located, but nothing happens.

iTunes cannot see the phone at all either.

So, is there anyway out of this such as some sort of reset that can be done from my iMac or am I fk'd! I imagine it's now just a case of upgrading to a new one (will probably wait till the 6S/7 is out next week and see if I can get a 6 for less).

But before I order a new one I thought I'd see if anyone knew how to get the thing working again!

Thanks.

Now the Apple logo has appeared and iTunes can see it .... but only for a while and it goes off again.

Thanks for that Liam.

The phone actually came back to life just before you posted that... seems OK now (although I am sure it will go again soon so at least I have that link to fall back on).

At least I now have a full backup for when I change the phone in the next week or so.

i stripped the spare iPhone 4 today and replaced the screen and battery all for £20.

All thanks to youtube! I am so proud of myself as it actually turned on and works.

So go on Amazon order what you need and have a go and fixing it!
