Just noticed a new product on the ACT website:

http://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/cfab06s-perfo...

"Carbon fibre TVR speed six air-box , with fluero lined/ fuel resistant silicone induction hoses"

Anyone tried one of these?

If nothing else, it would certainly make the engine bay look a little different with this individual silicon hoses. I wonder if there are any performace advantages to this?

(Not that I want one, I have said I am happy with my car now....)

Don't think it is as attractive as all Carbon Fibre in my opinion. However, I may be biased smile

Did you find any noticeable difference between yours and the standard?

(Not that I want one, of course...)

It might not look as attractive, but the silicone runners onto the throttle bodies should result in smoother air flow into the throttle body mouths, and none of that flow spilling out down the sides of the body mouth.

Installed mine on the sofa as soon as I got it. Fastest sofa in the southeast laugh

Uhh almost. There was a blemish in the lid I wasn't happy with, but Tim is sorting it.

Difficult to tell tbh, sometimes I think it feels like it has a bit more torque, but I'm under no illusions that it's really just an expensive piece of engine bay bling, what I need to do is get it on Jules rollers to compare it to last years graph.

Has anybody done a dyno-test with this airbox?

I still don't think, that this will improve the engine performance.

Ok silly question number one... How do you know it's the same?

Cheers smile

I assume it would be worth having a remap at the same time the new box is installed, to get the most out of it (if there is indeed anything extra to be had).

From all that I have read on here, it seems that different 'new and improved' air boxes just change slightly where the power curve is - some favour a stronger top end and others more torque lower down, but never by much, such is the good design of the original (which is already massive compared to most other air boxes..)

Look forward to seeing some more numbers with this, I can see the advantages of the silicon for getting better flow and seal to the throttle bodies. Be good to see one in the engine bay? Anyone got pictures of one fitted?

Ok not the same, but similar, mine has been in Tim's car for over a year, mine is lacquered and is front fed as well as fed from the underside, has stainless catches, it costs about the same, but is fitted FOC
